How To Create a Gift Card Product

Overview

Allow your guests to buy gifts for their friends and family by creating gift card products. Create gift cards for a specific tour & experience, or at a discount for one of your experiences or an entire category. The lucky recipient receives an email along with a voucher and a link directly to your online redemption page.

Getting started: Create a new product

1. Click Inventory.
2. Select Products.
3. Click the Next button for the Gift Card product type.

Within the new product page:

1. Enter a Product Name of the Gift Card.
2. Gift Card Value:
   • Fixed amount: Use this gift card to book any product or extra.
   • Specific product: Use this gift card only to book the selected product, and match the gift card price to the product price.
   • Specific product - Custom price: Use this gift card only to book the selected product, but set its selling price separately from the product price.
   • Specific catalog: Use this gift card to book any product within the selected catalog.
3. Rollover unused value: Ticking this option creates a rolling credit for any amount/price-based gift card, e.g., Fixed amount, Specific product - Custom price, and Specific catalog.
4. Gift Card Expiry - Choose between:
   • Fixed number of days: Enter the number of days for the Voucher to expire, 0 for no expiry.
   • Fixed Date: Enter the date for the Voucher to expire.
5. Gift card taxes & fees: Include taxes and fees when redeeming the gift card. If selected, the system calculates taxes on the discounted amount; otherwise, it calculates them on the full amount.
   
   
    
6. Add the final touches to the Gift Card product by entering descriptions and uploading a Gift Card cover image.
   
   
    
7. Click the Save Product button.

Allowing the buyer to enter the recipient's details

By following these steps, you allow your customers to buy gift cards and send them via email to their recipients. We strongly recommend that you enable the following fields:

1. Click Booking Info.
2. Click Ask for each Recipient.
   • First Name
   • Last Name
   • Email
   • Message to recipient

These options result in the following fields for the buyer to complete during their purchase:

Depending on the gift card template you select, the recipient receives their gift card, voucher, and redemption link in their email.

Adding additional extras to a gift card product

Extras apply only to the gift card product itself and do not cover the value of extras that recipients purchase for the actual product/experience. For example, a typical extra on a gift card product is postage or printing services.

Do not use gift card extras for product extras such as photos, additional equipment, or services used with your products and experiences.

Note: The recipient can still purchase any additional extras you might have set up for the product itself. Upon checkout, they pay for any additional costs not covered by the gift value.

How to view generated vouchers

When a guest purchases a gift card or a product as a gift, you can find the vouchers in their order.

1. Scroll to the Products section of their order.
2. View the voucher number/s next to the amount.

Tip: Click the voucher number to open the settings page and view or change the details.
